WHY ARCHIVE?
THE ARCHIVE
is the sum of the work.
I live, it grows.
After each trip, chapter or prolific week of painting
these works get stacked and put away.
There is nothing that comforts me more that being out in the world,
and carrying -
pens, markers, pencils.
If my handbag can’t hold a pad or a notebook, I’ll risk it.
There will always be a napkin, menu, takeaway box, post-it within a sourceable, reachable distance.
Drawing for me is an extension of the conversation, the date, the event, the moment.
I’m nostalgic,
romantic -
I love a momento.
My nonna was like that. Always writing on the back of photographs the names and details of a moment. And then giving them to people, tucking them in cards or framing them so they just needed to be placed on a shelf.
The drawing/painting is that same date stamp.
Majority of sale works were created over summer/autumn from Sydney, Japan, Bali, Margaret River, hotel floors/beds and my dining table.
